KSHSAA Solo & Ensemble Festival 2016
Several band students competed with solos or ensemble selections at the Regional Solo & Ensemble Festival on April 9th. We are so proud of all the students who made a special effort to prepare independent pieces for the festival. Those students receiving ratings of "1" advanced to the State Solo & Ensemble Festival held on April 23 at Washburn Rural High School in Topeka.

District Honor Bands 2015-16
The Northeast District of the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) held auditions on Saturday, November 15th at Olathe East High School.
Congratulations to all of our SMNW Musicians - they all worked hard for the auditions!
The following students were selected for district honor bands as follows:
Alternates:
Jazz Band:
These students will attend a full morning of rehearsals at Blue Valley High School on December 6th, followed by concerts in the afternoon. Freshman Band will perform at 1 pm, Jazz Band will perform at 2 pm, and the Red and Blue Bands will perform at 3:30 pm. Parents and friends are encouraged to attend.
After making and performing in district band, these students then have the opportunity to audition for the All-State band the first or second Saturday in January. The All-State Band is held in February, in Wichita, and is a multi-day trip consisting of rehearsals and other activities, culminating in concerts open to the public Saturday afternoon. Jazz band, orchestra, and the concert band all perform at the same venue, just at varying times. Parents, you are encouraged to attend the performance.
