Penny Snead
Penny Snead is a transplant from Hampton, Virginia who originally came to the Midwest to attend the University of Kansas. Both of her degrees are from KU. Ms. Snead began her career in Shawnee Mission at Old Mission Junior High teaching strings and band. She has now been in Shawnee Mission for over twenty years. When she is not working favorite hobbies include reading, listening to jazz and hanging out with her dog Sydney.
Doug Talley
Doug Talley is a high school band teacher and jazz performer. He is very active in jazz in the midwest. He has played in many festivals, visited many high schools and colleges as a clinitian, and has been on faculty at jazz camps. He has been featured in many magazine articles since 1986. His discography includes 3 cds, most with his jazz quartet, also very active in the midwest. He has been teaching in Shawnee Mission district since 1984, and been at SMNW since 1986.
Brit Haney
Graduated from the University of Kansas in Fall 1997 with degrees in Math Education and Music Education. Participated in the KU Orchestra (section leader), Symphonic Band, Marching Band, and Percussion Ensemble while attending the university. Married his college sweetheart Amy in the Fall of 1998. Haney's first job in education was teaching mathematics and assisting the band at Lee's Summit North High School, MO . Moved back to Kansas in the summer of 2000 to help work with the SMNW Marching Cougar Pride and teach mathematics at SMNW. Finished his master's degree in Education in the Fall on 2002.
Christin LaMourie
Christin is a
2001 graduate of S.M. West where she participated in marching and concert bands
among other activities, and a 2005 graduate of Kansas State University where she
participated in marching band for a year and graduated with a degree in
Secondary Education. Christin teaches American Government and Sociology now at
Northwest and is happy to be sponsoring the Varsity Drill Team.
